Removing old Nics from MS Virtual machine Vmware

This is just a quick post on removing old Nics from a Virtual Machine.

I have had a few issues recently when trying to rename network interfaces.

you should uninstall a virtual machine nic before removing it from VMware, otherwise you will see errors when trying to use the same IP or name on another Nic.

To get round this you can use:

Open the command prompt as an administrator and type:

SET DEVMGR\_SHOW\_NONPRESENT\_DEVICES=1

Navigate to the Device manager, View and show hidden devices.

Delete all the old Nics.
